If you follow directions, putting this on is a breeze. This hook is a 1.25mm so it's small but a bigger hook will work too.Simply put a drop of dishwashing liquid on the handle end of the hook and push until there's a fair amount of resistance. Then pull it back off most of the way and push back on again until it's where you want it. I used the entire length but you could cut these to whatever size you want. These are extremely comfortable and have eliminated the wrist pain from holding such a small hook.I highly recommend them! It's fine if you have the time to mess with it. To the woman who succeeded where we failed: we need to give a trophy to you- you apparently used the right ratio of soap or have strong skillful hands. By the time I got it partially on I was already sweating and my hands shakey.I can't crochet if my fingers are in pain so I am giving up. Maybe I'll toss it to my cats and they can bat it around on the floor, I hear they dig the blue color.Frustrated they only fit for the smallest of small crochet hooks uugghhOk, these are so easy to put on. First cut off the length you need. Then totally saturate the crochet needle with liquid dish soap. Run the blue crochet needle grip under hot water. Slide onto needle hook side first. The bigger gauge needle, the more effort it'll take but it WILL WORK.*You can widen the hole a bit with small scissors but be careful as it can tear it easily.*Use a dry cloth and hold on top of the blue grip if it helps your hand from slipping off when sliding grip onto needle. I love these grips. Inexpensive and so easy to put on. I'll buy them again. What a simple solution to a the problem of having lots of crochet hooks and arthritic hands. You don't need to buy another set of ergonomic hooks, as these handles work very well. I have a set of Susan Bates hooks and these cushions transformed them from unusable and painful to comfortable, and come in sizes to accommodate your most commonly used hooks. Have not found them for 6mm/I-10 size or larger, but the larger hooks are easier to handle than the 2.5, 3.0 etc., anyway. If your hands are as bad as mine, you may need help from someone to put them on your hooks, but once there you are set to go. I have also used them on other brands of hooks, so do feel limited Susan Bates hooks only. The have worked universally for me.The idea of this is great. But I could not get it to fit anything but the smallest of hooks. To say it fits up to ā€œGā€ is misleading. I could only fit it on the smallest of my hooks and had to cut it in half to get it on those. It would be comfortable if you could get it on there.I can't imagine how this is supposed to fit over a G hook. The only way I could get it on my E hook was to cut it in half, grease up my hook and work it down, with great difficulty, one piece at a time. DON'T GO HOOK FIRST! That doesn't work at all. My poor hands are so cramped up from the effort.Once on, however, it is nice to work with. It is really fat, with give to the material. It does make crocheting easier on the hands. So that's my story - I love working with this cushion on my hook, but it is almost impossible to get on the hook in the first place. I will get the larger size meant for use with much bigger hook to see if they will go on my G hook, because this one wont, despite what the package says. I use E and G hooks most of the time. These cushions are great for my crochet hooks. I have severe Rheumatoid Disease (RA) in my hands and the metal crochet hooks make my hands hurt after a few minutes. These cushions are just right. You need to use a little dish soap to get them on. My husband had to put them on for me. The only drawback is there are only two in a package, so if you have a lot of hooks (like I do), it would cost a fortune to cover them. I used these until my Ergonomic Hooks arrived. These are a great idea, theyve really helped my hands when crocheting. At first I found them difficult to get my 4mm hook in. I tried coating the top two thirds of the hook with Fairy liquid as in the instructions but it still wasn't going in. Then my clever partner suggested soaking the cushion in warm water for a couple of minutes to soften it. That worked a treat and it went on fairly easily after that.I wouldn't personally recommend these. As other people have mentioned, they are very difficult to fit on. I ordered two sizes and could not get the larger ones on my hooks and split one in the process! I used Free and Easy from Labelled, which made fitting the smaller ones possible. I noticed later that the the holes in the smaller set were larger than the holes in the bigger set. Once fitted I didn't find them particularly comfortable to work with either and took them off. But like I say that is my personal preference.Been searching for these and of course they're on Amazon. Essential if you use the smaller hooks a lot, certainly saves my hand/fingers and gives something thicker to hold which helps my tension.Great - I used these on my Pony hooks to make them more ergonomic. Worked really well but had to do some research to translate hook sizes.comfortable grips for my crochet hooks, bit fiddly getting them on but once they are then they make crocheting much easier.
