This is my all-time favorite brand. They are smooth, the thumb grip is comfortable even for my now older hands. This set includes the MOST COMMON sizes and they will last a lifetime...unless you are really turning out phenomenal amounts of items. All the ones I own and have had a lifetime...even some from Mom and Grandma...are steady. The *TAPER" is perfect and more comfortable in hand than the "in-line" type.((The only reason I bought this set was to experiment converting to a corded Tunisian style because I am skeptical of the in-line pre-made being suitable fro me. (I'm buying moldable clay and flex tubing.))**the polished aluminum makes these "QUICK"...so if speed is your need...go for these. This is a good quality product for a reasonable amount of money. I knit but have started to crochet recently. This package offers a lot of different hook sizes for a good price.I like the long shaft. Easy to use for the way I use this tool.I was thrilled to have a new set at a lower cost, but I felt a difference the moment I pulled out a hook to test. They almost feel tacky in my hand, as if freshly painted. I compared them to my current set and the logo is off, there are dents, and the overal design is slightly different. My current set is smooth and works in my hand with ease - these felt like they were catching on my skin. Maybe a beginner who's learning won't know the difference, but I really felt a change. I'm just going to go spend a few extra bucks for legit hooks.I accidentally gave my crochet hooks to charity. I finally made my mind up to purchase some new ones in this set. They smaller than my older ones by .5mm. Very annoyed with myself for getting rid of my old favorites and disappointed in my new purchase. That said, if you're buying a new set for the first time, you should be just fine.I only needed a size E. Well, I thought I did - turns out I really needed the D. Anyway, at the time I bought these, they were $3.99 and same day delivery, so now I have 8 more hooks! (They are $10.76 today, which is still pretty good. And same day shipping. Woo hoo!)Most of my hooks are the Boye brand, and I love them. They are light and sturdy and smooth. I have some plastic ones because right after 9/11, it was hard to get metal sticks on airplanes ("Thirty Dead on Flight after Crochet Hook Wielding Madman Freaks Out over Number of Pretzels in Bag!!") Plastic is horrible and almost never completely smooth. (Don't argue with me about this - I've had bad experiences!) I've never had a problem with Boye, and after crocheting an afghan 4'x5', I still haven't had a problem. So, if you think you might need a hook or two that are in the D-K range, plop this in your cart. Check it every once in a while to see if the price goes down, and snag it when it does. (My local craft stores sell this set in the $10-12 range, and if you get their coupons, you can usually get it for less.)La descripción del artículo y la medida clara. If you're looking to replace some Boye hooks you owned before, I would say be sure you know what you're getting with the D-K set on this page. When I bought this set previously, the D hook was measured and printed with the size of 3.25mm, like it is everywhere. Now, maybe Boye always sold D hooks at the size that is listed now--3 point ONE TWO FIVE mm--and they're just now letting the consumer know; or maybe they actually changed the size of their D hooks to 3.125mm. Either way, it was downright disconcerting to reorder the same set I ordered before, only to discover that three hook sizes have "changed": D - from 3.25mm to 3.125mm; I - from 5.5mm to 5.25mm; and J - from 6mm to 5.75mm. Are all D, I, and J hooks really this size and we just thought they were 3.25mm, 5.5mm, and 6mm respectively? I don't know. But I just thought I should give people a heads up in case others might be unpleasantly surprised and a little bit confused by this change. You'd still do the same things you always do to get gauge for a pattern you're working, the size "changes" are negligible, and the hooks work fine. So it's not a big deal, just a little odd, I think. These are great, smooth, glide through the wool easily, no snags or dragging. Can crochet quickly if you add a cushion for each hook like I do. My favourite cushion is the Susan Bates striped ones. They make a very comfortable ergonomic hook combination for an enjoyable experience for extended hours of crochet! This hook set is an economic good quality set to actually enjoy the art. Note....the new hook sizes are off by .25. So you aren't getting the advertised ones. But you can make a swatch and adjust your hook size to fit your pattern, just google it, or Pinterest it, etc. These are very good quality for the price. Metal hooks glide better though the wool, faster and can take a lot of tough pressure of the toy making. I have used these type with a cushion for 20 years. I had tried some new ergonomic hooks for a few years, but am now coming back to this style because the ergonomic ones hurt my hands. I have tried three types of the very expensive hooks and they all hurt my hands. You won't be disappointed in these, they are a great beginner set, most of what you would need to fill out a complete set. The rest of the hooks that are missing are more speacialized sizes. You can buy as needed for specific projects, or adjust hook with your pattern. Thank you.En otras reseñas había leído que igual les había faltado un gancho. No parece un error sino algo intencional, se ve como si hubieran arrancado el gancho del paquete. De ahí en más los ganchos están okay.Half the hooks where not made properly, for example the flat part where your fingers go was off center from the actual hook, making it impossible to line the yarn up properly.I have a bunch of Boyle hooks and they're good. I needed this set because it has a lot of quarter measures (.25, .75)These are excellent hooks, and it is useful to have a complete set of the same brand. They are light, comfortable to use, and having each size a different colour makes it easy to locate the one you want.
