All are heirloom-quality afghans--displayed in breathtaking color photos--featuring deluxe yarns such as silk blends, mohair, or cashmere. And it's an anything-but-ordinary collection that includes new takes on classic afghans, afghans with hundreds of bullion stitches, and those that look like the finest lace. I collect afghan books in both knit and crochet stitches and this one ranks at the top with a few others. There are 40 projects of which 17 are knit. The crocheted afghans are much more interesting as some of the knit ones are ho-hum. The first afghan, Rosy outlook, shows that the editing was a bit slapdash(colors not given for the panels). Also not all the afghans have attributions and others, although quite good, came from Patons Design Staff . Standouts are the 2 tunisian crochet afghans, hexagon wheels, and pretty pinwheels. Most of the yarns are knitting worsted. For the serious knitter or crocheter (no beginners) this book is highly recommended.
